Marvel’s latest superhero blockbuster, “Captain America: Brave New World”, is on the verge of making history in Nigeria, closing in on the N300 million mark after just three weeks in cinemas.
According to figures from the Nigerian Box Office on Monday, the film raked in an extra N43.9 million between February 28 and March 2, bringing its total earnings to a staggering N298 million.
The movie stormed into cinemas with a record-breaking N137.5 million opening weekend, the biggest debut of 2025 in Nigeria.
Since then, it has continued to dominate the local box office, solidifying Nigeria’s growing love for action-packed superhero films.

Distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, Brave New World also led the February 14–16 weekend box office, proving its staying power. Within two weeks of release, it had already pulled in N226 million, with an additional N57.2 million earned between February 21 and 23.
Marvel Studios and Disney have enjoyed major success in Nigeria, a key market that continues to embrace Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters.
However, while Brave New World is soaring locally, its global performance tells a different story.
Internationally, Captain America: Brave New World has held onto the number-one spot for three straight weekends, but its earnings raise concerns for Marvel.
The film, directed by Julius Onah, marks Anthony Mackie’s first solo outing as Captain America since taking over the shield in Avengers: Endgame. While it topped the US box office with $15 million last weekend, its momentum was slowed by the buzz surrounding the 2025 Academy Awards.
So far, “Brave New World” has earned $341.8 million globally, surpassing The Incredible Hulk (2008) at $265.5 million and The Marvels (2023) at $199.7 million, which remains Marvel’s lowest-grossing film.
