The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has alleged that the unity of Nigeria was under threat with the comment of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) over the sexual harassment saga between the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaga.
The South-South apex sociocultural group alleged that the contents of the ACF press release on the matter indicate a political war against the Southerners aimed to restore power to Northern Nigeria in 2027.
PANDEF National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Obiuwevbi Christopher Ominimini, in a statement on Tuesday, said, the press release by the Publicity Secretary of ACF, Prof. T. Muhammad-Baba, was a political statement against the administration of President Bola Tinubu to restore power back to Northern Nigeria in 2027.
Muhammad-Baba, in a statement on March 1, 2025, alleged that only senators from the North have been subjected to heavy sanctions, such as suspensions, in the 10th Senate. The ACF wondered if the unfolding events constituted a pattern or cruel coincidences at work.
But PANDEF said for the ACF to insinuate that only Northerners were being suspended, and called on Northern senators to rally around one of their own is a ‘threat to the unity of this country.’
PANDEF added that issuing such a statement at a period when citizens are being overwhelmed by dire existential living conditions on account of the impact of public policies on lives and livelihoods, shows very clearly that the 2027 Presidential 2nd tenure of President Tinubu is the real target.
PANDEF, therefore, stated that “it is the turn of Southern Nigeria to produce the Nigeria President in 2027, having done two consecutive tenures by the North under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.”
