IWD: Olamide Junaid hailed for leading charge in women empowerment
On this International Women’s Day, we take a moment to celebrate the inspiring contributions of women who are making a significant impact in their communities. One such remarkable individual is Dr. Olamide Balikis Junaid, a humanitarian, life coach, and development advocate known for her tireless work through the Olamide Junaid Foundation.
Junaid’s foundation is dedicated to uplifting communities by focusing on education, youth empowerment, and humanitarian efforts, embodying the spirit of resilience and compassion that International Women’s Day represents.
Junaid in a statement said: “According to this year theme of the International Women’s Day, (For All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment), it’s important for us all to encourage women empowerment at all sectors.” The Olamide Junaid Foundation has initiated several impactful programmes aimed at addressing the pressing challenges faced by communities, particularly in Nigeria. One of the foundation’s notable initiatives is the provision of free fuel to transporters in Ibadan. This project has been instrumental in easing the financial burden of rising fuel prices, ensuring that essential transport services remain accessible to the community.
By supporting local transporters, the development advocate not only alleviates immediate economic pressures but also fosters a sense of community solidarity, demonstrating her commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those around her.
In addition to her work in transportation, Junaid is a passionate advocate for education and youth empowerment. The foundation has established scholarship programmes in partnership with Success FM, aimed at providing educational opportunities for school children who may otherwise be unable to afford them. By investing in the education of young individuals, she is not only empowering the next generation but also contributing to the long-term development of her community. Education is a powerful tool for change, and through her efforts, she is helping to break the cycle of poverty and create pathways for success.
“Dr. Olamide Junaid’s humanitarian work extends beyond her local initiatives. She has demonstrated a profound commitment to reaching out to vulnerable populations, including resilient ghetto kids in Uganda. Her outreach efforts highlight her understanding of the global challenges faced by marginalised communities and her determination to make a difference on an international scale. By providing support and resources to those in need, she embodies the essence of compassion and empathy, inspiring others to join her in the fight against inequality and hardship. She also recently distributed over 1,000 free UTME forms for Nigerian pupils who are aspiring to further their education.”
As we commemorate the International Women’s Day, it is essential to recognise the significant role that women like Junaid play in fostering positive change. Her dedication to education, community support, and humanitarian outreach serves as a beacon of hope for many. Junaid’s work exemplifies the strength and resilience of women who are committed to uplifting others, and her impact resonates far beyond her immediate community.
Let us celebrate Olamide Junaid and all women who are making a difference in the world. Their unwavering commitment to service, empowerment, and social justice is vital in the ongoing pursuit of equality and sustainability. On this day, we honor their achievements and encourage everyone to support their efforts. Together, we can build a brighter future for all, where women are empowered to lead and uplift their communities.
