Man, 53, in court for allegedly aiding suspect to escape

A 53-year-old man, Wilfred Olaomo, was on Wednesday docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan for allegedly aiding a suspect to escape.

Olaomo, whose address was not provided, was charged on one count bothering on accessory after the fact.

He however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Cpl David Adepoju, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometimes in December, 2024, at Moniya area of Ibadan.

Adepoju said the defendant made himself an accessory after the fact to the offence of stealing.

He added that the defendant aided a suspect to escape being arrested by the police, knowing full well that he participated in the stealing of a car.

He said that the suspected participated in the stealing of a Toyota Camry, belonging to one Sylvester Guobadia.

He added that the offence contravened Section 519 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
