The Senator Representing, Kogi West in the National Assembly, Sunday Karimi, has said current happenings in the upper legislative chamber involving the lawmaker representing the district, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, have reportedly vindicated former Governor Yahaya Bello.

Karimi noted that, as a key player in the National Assembly, he could comfortably say that the former governor could, after all, not have been blamed for what Akpoti-Uduaghan blamed him for in the state before the National Assembly elections.

The senator, who spoke to journalists in Lokoja, in reaction to the face-off between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, submitted: “Former Governor Yahaya Bello must have seen it coming.

“Other Kogi lawmakers and I played major roles in ensuring that the state was not brought to ridicule, but no amount of reasoning could prevail. Our intervention was rebuffed.”

He recalled that the Akpoti-Uduaghan had several running battles with the ex-governor, before, during and after the National Assembly elections, noting that recent happenings had only vindicated Bello.

According to him, what is happening now in the Senate is a total mess and an embarrassment to the entire state. He lamented that, despite sincere appeals and advice, which he said fell on deaf ears, it was unfortunate that the needless embarrassment still befell the state and the nation, at large.

Karimi continued: “All our admonition to her fell on deaf ears. One can therefore come to terms with the fact that former Governor Yahaya Bello saw it coming.

“Sen. Natasha has not only rubbished the perception of the state, from the events happening now in Nigeria, she has also embarrassed the entire country.”

BESIDES, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has reached out to her constituents with food items across the senatorial district to ease the financial strain of Ramadan. Her Chief Press Secretary, Israel Arogbonlo, in a statement yesterday, indicated that the initiative, which included 1,200 bags of beans and 1,200 bags of millet, was reaching people regardless of political affiliation, ensuring that families have access to essential food supplies during the holy month.

At the distribution event in Okehi Local Council, former House of Representatives member, Abdulrahman Badamasiu, acknowledged that the exercise had faced delays due to unforeseen circumstances.

However, he emphasised that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s unwavering dedication to her people remains unchanged.
