Microfinance bank disburses grants to female entrepreneurs

Kolomoni Microfinance Bank has disbursed and supported female-owned businesses in the country with grants as part of moves to boost the nation’s economy.
While disclosing that female entrepreneurs are vital to Nigeria’s current and future economy, the management of the microfinance bank emphasised that the gesture was designed to celebrate women in business.

According to the management of the microfinance bank, based on World Bank data, 41 per cent of the federation’s micro-businesses are controlled by women.
With the financial institution stressing that the move will address key needs in the local community due to the spotlight it placed on women entrepreneurs, one of the keynote speakers at the event, Ebun Akinwale, declared that running a business is no easy feat, stating that it demands resilience, creativity, and most importantly, passion.

The event tagged, “Accelerate Her Growth,” saw five business owners receive grants after a competitive pitch among interested participants.
On their part, Odunayo Oyebolu, an entrepreneur; Victori Ajiboye, a marketing strategist, and Simi Ojumu, a finance expert, gave marketing tips to aid the growth of female-owned businesses.

While Oyebolu emphasised that “your business exists to solve a problem; the better you understand that problem, the better your solutions will be,” Ajiboye advocated for using micro-influencers to reach targeted audiences more effectively.
