As part of her commitment to promoting and supporting the girl child, Umole Favour Oluwakemi, a NYSC member serving with Femab Properties, has taken up a personal initiative to change the narrative of girl health by providing education programmes for young girls.

Her Primary Place of Assignment, Femab Properties, has provided vital support for her initiative. Through this project, she aimed to equip students at Jama-at-ul Islamiyya Primary School, Igbo Efon, with essential menstrual hygiene knowledge, sanitary pads, and school uniforms.

Driven by her passion for the girl child and as a female herself, Umole understands the need to educate young girls on health, the importance of hygiene, and mensural cycle tracking. Recognising that many young girls may lack access to accurate information or feel uncomfortable discussing these issues, she is dedicated to creating a safe space where they can learn and ask questions freely.

Beyond menstrual health education, the initiative also tackled another critical challenge by promoting hygiene and self-confidence among both boys and girls. To further support the students, Umole secured support from Femab Properties to provide new school uniforms, reinforcing the company’s dedication to youth empowerment through corporate social responsibility.

Speaking on the initiative, Umole said, “As a young woman, I understand the challenges that girls face, particularly regarding menstrual health. This initiative is my personal NYSC project aimed at providing education and tangible support to ensure that girls no longer feel ashamed or unprepared. I am incredibly grateful to Femab Properties and Mr. Abiodun Aguda for supporting this cause and helping me make a lasting impact.”

Group Managing Director of Femab Properties, Mr. Abiodun Aguda, commended the initiative, stating, “At Femab Properties, we are always eager to support meaningful projects that uplift communities. Umole’s dedication to addressing girl health challenges aligns with our vision of fostering education, health, and dignity for young people as part of our CSR Initiatives. We are proud to support her in making a difference.”

While Femab Properties played a key supporting role, this initiative showcases the power of youth-led projects in driving meaningful change. Umole urged government agencies, private sector leaders, and NGOs to invest in initiatives that empower young people with the education, health, and resources they need to thrive.
