George Turnah, South-South Zonal Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and convener of Bayelsa Mega Rally for Tinubu and Wike, has explained why Bayelsa is the ideal place to celebrate President Bola Tinubu and his minister, Nyesom Wike.

The New Associate group is a PDP faction loyal to Wike. Speaking on Arise Television’s ‘The Morning Show’ on Tuesday, Turnah said in addition to the rally, the group plans to thank and celebrate Wike and President Bola Tinubu for appointing some notable sons and daughters of Bayelsa into his administration.

However, the Bayelsa State Government has given reasons why it is opposed to the planned rally in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital to be held in support of President Tinubu and Wike.

It stated that while the state was not opposed to gatherings as guaranteed by the Nigerian constitution, a situation where an individual has “insulted the ancestry of a people, sparking widespread outrage, the state must take proactive measures to maintain peace.”

The Bayelsa Commissioner for Youth Development, Alfred Nimizigha, who made government’s position known, accused Wike of making statements capable of causing disharmony among the people and with such statements, the state would not want any political rally that would threaten the peace in the state.
