Inside the TikTok Stream: How Gift Edah brought Netflix’s ‘Lights, Camera… Naija!’ to millions

When the second edition of Netflix’s star-studded “Lights, Camera… Naija!” rolled into Lagos in November 2024, it wasn’t just about the dazzling lights or the celebrity guests.

Behind the curtain and just out of the camera’s frame, a quiet creative force was orchestrating one of the most important parts of the experience: the live broadcast.

Gift Edah, representing both Rayvolution Media and Green Street Media, was at the heart of it all, ensuring the event reached millions on TikTok with seamless precision.

It all began weeks before the first red carpet heel touched the floor. Gift and his team were locked in strategic meetings with Netflix’s production unit and the creative agency leading the charge.

These sessions were less about logistics and more about immersion, understanding the energy of Nollywood, the tone Netflix wanted to project, and how best to deliver that in real-time to TikTok’s dynamic audience.

Reconnaissance was next. With cameras in hand and diagrams in tow, Gift led a pre-production sweep of the venue. Every corner was inspected from the main stage down to the technical booths and backstage lounges. Lighting angles were calculated, cable routes mapped, and acoustic concerns flagged for resolution.

Nothing was left to chance. Then came the challenge of translating all of that into a broadcast blueprint. Gift’s team designed a full-scale TikTok broadcast format that combined sweeping wide shots of the event’s grandeur with tight, personal moments from the red carpet and green room. They developed on-brand graphic overlays, devised the live content flow, and scheduled interactive moments that would keep TikTok viewers hooked throughout.

On event day, long before the guests arrived, the broadcast room hummed to life.

Gift’s crew ran diagnostics on all video feeds, audio channels, and internet connections. They activated redundant networks, tested encoders, and readied backups, making the stream bulletproof.

But this wasn’t just a technical exercise — it was a performance in itself. Gift worked hand-in-hand with set designers to ensure the visual appeal of the stage worked both in-person and onscreen. In the control room, she communicated constantly with the host, Susan Pajhwok, via a wireless in-ear talkback system, guiding her through transitions, timing, and live interactions with TikTok viewers. Behind the scenes, a floor management team, overseen by the Agency, working together with Gift Edah, choreographed the flow of celebrity guests.

From movie icons to breakout stars, each guest was briefed, cued, and ushered to their spot with precision — and always on time for the next camera pan.

And when the final goodbyes were said and the broadcast wrapped, the numbers told their own story. The TikTok stream garnered thousands of engagements, amplifying the reach of “Lights, Camera… Naija!” far beyond Lagos, Nigeria.

For Gift Edah, it was more than just a livestream production. It was storytelling in real-time and the spotlight, for once, belonged to the storyteller behind the scenes.
