Major players in the tourism industry have continued to count huge losses incurred, at the weekend, as a result of the cancellation of Sallah Durbar in Kano.

Also, foreign tourists who visited to Kano to witness the historic Sallah Durbar festival lamented disappointments over the ban on the traditional festival.

The cultural enthusiasts who came from various continents to catch the full glimpse of an assembly of over 7,000 horses filing in large procession in colorful costume, already arrived Kano before the news of the cancellation was broken.

Durbar is a rich cultural festival of the royal emirate that started over 500 years ago, and had gained the global attraction, therefore necessitated its enlistment on United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNESCO’s) international list of intangible human heritage.
