The Karim Adeyemi Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment through education and sports, as it hosted the grand finale of its third annual essay competition in commemoration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) 2025.
The event, held at the University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre, brought together students from 14 public secondary schools across Ibadan, including Ibadan Grammar School, St. Louis Grammar School, Wesley College of Science, Oluyole Extension High School, and Ansarudeen High School.
The essay competition themed, “Leveling the Playing Field – Sports for Social Inclusion,” was designed to inspire students to reflect on the role of sports in building unity, equality, and peace in their communities and across the country.
President of the Karim Adeyemi Foundation, Abiodun Adeyemi, noted that the competition not only encourages critical thinking among students but also strengthens the Foundation’s goal of using sports and education as vehicles for development.
“We believe school sports is a valuable tool for building resilience, discipline, and academic strength,” he said, advocating for the revival of school sports competitions across the state.
The Foundation awarded participants with certificates of participation and educational materials, supported by Polaris Bank, a consistent sponsor of the Foundation’s IDSDP activities.
