The National Old Students’ Association of Alaafin High School, Oyo (NOSA-AHSO), has extended warm congratulations to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, following his historic coronation as the new Alaafin of Oyo.
In a statement released on Monday, the association described the monarch’s installation, which took place on Saturday, 5 April 2025, as a defining moment in Yoruba history and a reaffirmation of cultural leadership deeply revered across Yorubaland and the diaspora.
“As an association bearing the identity of the sacred stool and rooted in the educational and cultural heritage of the Oyo Kingdom, we recognise the Alaafin’s role as the spiritual and moral compass of our people,” the statement read.
NOSA-AHSO praised Oba Owoade’s emergence as a symbol of continuity and renewed hope for the preservation of Yoruba values, unity, and progress. The group urged all stakeholders—including traditional leaders, government institutions, civil society, and citizens—to rally behind the new monarch in advancing peace, education, cultural preservation, and inclusive development.

“The Alaafin’s reign offers a unique opportunity to strengthen our collective resolve towards building a more enlightened and prosperous society,” the statement noted.
Highlighting the challenges that come with the revered throne, the association expressed confidence in the new monarch’s ability to navigate them with wisdom and integrity. It also pledged its full support to the palace on initiatives aimed at youth empowerment, educational advancement, and the promotion of Yoruba identity.
“The Alaafin is not just a king; he is the heartbeat of our heritage,” said the association’s National President, Engr Muideen Goke Aruna. “Let us walk hand in hand with His Imperial Majesty to ensure his reign becomes a golden era for Oyo and Yorubaland.”
NOSA-AHSO concluded with prayers for a reign blessed with wisdom, peace, longevity, and prosperity.
