The Chief Executive Officer of Grace Schools, Gbagada, Lagos, Mrs. Olatokunbo Edun, has emphasised that culture is a vital tool for enhancing learning among students.
According to her, the need to promote cultural heritage as a means of fostering educational development cannot be overemphasized.
“Culture is a way of life. It encompasses various concepts such as literature, values, norms, and traditions like marriage, which are unique to different communities,” she explained.
Edun, who also serves as the Director of the school, noted that Grace Schools place a high premium on the promotion of cultural heritage as part of their educational philosophy.
She further stated that culture plays an essential role in providing holistic education.
As part of this commitment, the school is organising a biennial cultural week to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage of Lagos, Nigeria, and Africa at large.
The theme of the 2025 Cultural Week, scheduled to hold from April 8 to April 11, is “Exploring Our Cultural Heritage.”
Edun revealed that notable cultural icons such as Mr. Qudus Onikeku, CEO of the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History; Prof. Oladipo Ajiboye; and Prof. Mopelola Omoegun, will be among the distinguished guests at the event.
A major highlight of the celebration will be the participation of contemporary actress Oluwatosin Adeyemi.
The week-long event will feature a variety of cultural showcases, including art exhibitions, drama, indigenous languages, traditional cuisine, and dance performances.
