For allegedly defiling a three-year-old baby, Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Lagos Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court has remanded Peter Oshomah at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre.

The judge remanded Oshomah after he pleaded not guilty to a count charge of defilement of a minor preferred against him by the Lagos State government.

The state government alleged that Oshomah, on or about February 5, 2024, at about 5:25 p.m., at No. 8, DB Street, Shagari Estate, Ipaja, Lagos, did defile a minor who was then one year and seven months old.

He was accused of having unlawful sexual intercourse with her. But he denied the allegation and pleaded not guilty.

Following his plea, the state counsel, Inumidun Solarin, prayed the court for a trial date, to which the defendant’s counsel did not object.

The court, therefore, ordered that the defendant be remanded to a correctional facility and subsequently adjourned the matter to July 1, 2025, for trial.

In another case, Justice Oshodi ordered the remand of one Abiodun Sodiq for allegedly defiling a three-year-old minor.

Sodiq was arraigned by the state government on a charge bordering on defilement of an underage girl.

The prosecuting counsel, Solarin, prayed the court for a trial date following the non-guilty plea of the defendant.

The judge, however, remanded him in the correctional custody and adjourned to July 2 for trial.

The prosecution alleged that Sodiq committed the offence on January 25, 2024, at about 6:35 p.m., at Road 2, Extension Estate, Ajah.
