Katsina State government has suspended the ongoing second term and the Mock Examinations for Senior Secondary School Students (SS 3) due to reported leakage of question papers.
The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education announced the suspension in a statement yesterday. Signed by a spokesperson for the ministry, Sani Suleiman, the statement explained the decision became necessary to address concerns about the integrity of the assessments.
While emphasising the importance of maintaining fair examination standards, the statement said the leakages had “prompted the ministry to take immediate action to ensure that all students are evaluated under equitable conditions.”
The ministry, while calling on parents and other stakeholders to remain calm, assured them that normal school lessons and activities for the third term would run as scheduled.
The statement said the ministry was working on fixing new dates for the postponed examinations, adding: “Further announcements will be made to inform students and parents about the rescheduled dates.”
It reiterated the ministry’s commitment to ensuring that all students have a fair opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills.
“In light of the situation, the ministry calls on parents to encourage their children to continue attending school. Engaging in regular academic activities will help students stay on track with their studies and prepare for the upcoming examinations,” it added.
