The Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has commenced desilting and drainage restructuring in the Agidingbi community of Ward E, as part of efforts to address flooding and improve environmental conditions.
The ongoing work covers Abiodun Sobajo Street, Adeleye Street, and Tade Street, all within the Agidingbi axis, which is also undergoing broader infrastructural restructuring aimed at ensuring a cleaner and flood-free environment.
Speaking during an inspection of the project, the Supervisor for Environment, Abdulsalam Olawale, stated that the desilting exercise would run from Abiodun Sobajo beside Agidingbi Secondary School through Tade Street and Lateef Jakande Road by Addax Mall, and terminate at the Agidingbi Technical College.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Olusegun Odunmbaku-led administration to sustainable environmental practices and consistent infrastructural upgrades to enhance the well-being of residents across Ojodu LCDA.
Olawale also appealed to residents to support the initiative by keeping their surroundings clean and refraining from dumping refuse in drainage channels, noting that blocked drains are a major cause of flooding, especially during the rainy season. He stressed the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining the gains of the ongoing environmental intervention.
