The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has urged petroleum marketers in Katsina State with expired licences to renew them without further delay.
Mr Muhammad Omar, the NMDPRA Controller in Katsina, made the appeal on Wednesday, stating that the call is in line with legal requirements.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Omar addressed the matter during a meeting with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Katsina chapter.
He warned that disciplinary action would be taken against any marketer failing to comply with operational regulations and licensing rules.
Omar also warned residents and fuel users against storing petroleum products at home, especially due to the intense heat currently being experienced.
He highlighted the increased risk of fires and other hazards linked to improper fuel storage during periods of high temperature.
The Controller assured the public that petroleum product supply in Katsina remains stable and sufficient to meet demand.
He urged consumers to avoid panic buying and to refrain from storing fuel in residential premises.
According to him, these measures are intended to safeguard lives and property during the hot season in the state.
In response, IPMAN Chairman in Katsina, Alh. Aminu Ahmed, praised the Controller’s efforts and promised full cooperation in maintaining safety and regulatory standards
