Collection redefines everyday street wear

In a fashion industry saturated with fast-fading trends and flimsy fabrics, Lagos-based clothing brand Wear Kpako is making a name for itself with a clear message: clothes should do more than just look good—they should last.

Founded in 2018 by Tamilore Nwaobiara and Oluwatobiloba Oderinde, Wear Kpako is positioning itself as a fashion brand for everyday Nigerians who live active, mobile lives. “We understand the people we design for. Our customers walk through traffic, jump on buses, hustle daily and they want to do all of that looking fresh, without their outfits falling apart,” Nwaobiara said.

The brand sets itself apart by using strong, sustainable materials and investing heavily in quality stitching.

The brand’s 2022 collection features denim designed to give style and comfort at the same time. You can tell that Wear Kpako wants their clothes to be useful and not just for show.

The sleeves and neckline feel too safe. The sleeves are basic straight cuts with no defined edge or standout stitch. For a denim piece, there’s room to do more: maybe a reinforced cuff, some contrast threading, or button-tab detailing. The collar also doesn’t help much, either. It’s just your regular shirt-style neckline. For denim, a switch-up like a spread collar or hidden snap buttons could’ve created more interest.
For the fitness, it looks clean, as the jackets sit properly on the shoulders. For someone who just wants simple denim, it works. But this isn’t giving identity. And in fashion, that matters. Keeping the design minimal can still work, but with a unique collar or stitching that speaks louder.

There’s no real “wow factor” here. The collection comes off as safe but forgettable. Denim can be a powerful canvas, but these pieces just play it cool without making any noise. The colours are muted, the designs feel copied and pasted across the looks, and the logo work doesn’t pop. The back patch at the back of the jacket tries to do something with text and graphics, but the placement and execution feel rushed. Adding one or two high, bold embroideries or unusual stitching patterns allows for strong statements.

There is not much to style the outfits in the collection. With head-to-toe denim, adding minimalistic accessories makes the styling bland. To elevate the design, styling with a bright-coloured tee or footwear will go a long way.

The construction is neat but too simple. The seams are straight, the buttons sit tight, and the pieces fit well. The contrast thread, especially the gold tones against the dark denim, gives the pieces some visual edge. It breaks up the monotony and shows attention to construction. The pocket shapes are neat, and the button placements are even. So, technically, the build is clean. The red logo on the jacket feels disconnected from the rest of the outfit. Adding designs, such as layered pockets, can elevate the denim from regular to something special.

The deep blue and black denim stands boldly with a clean design. The darker set—rich black with sharp yellow logos—feels bold and a bit edgy. It gives off that confident “don’t mess with me” vibe. It’s powerful, no doubt. The golden stitching adds warmth, breaking the black without taking away from the strong look. That pop of yellow on the patch is also a perfect placement.

Also, the bright blue denim stands out in the best way. It’s lively and feels a bit more playful. The white buttons and light embroidery bring in some fun contrast. It’s youthful and eye-catching, especially next to the other, darker pair.

Still, there’s room for more. A pop of colour, maybe red, orange, or even white accessories, could break the blue-on-blue or the black-on-black and make each piece shine even more. Also, while the dark look feels fierce, it risks blending into shadows in certain lighting.

The set is wearable and clean enough to sit on a rack. It can, however, fit audiences that prefer basic and decent denim.
