In a heartwarming display of philanthropy, the Don Lulu Foundation (DLF) led by its Chairman and Founder, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe also known as Don Lulu, on Tuesday, May 6, brought joy and respite to the financially stranded patients at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Umuahia by offsetting their medical bills.

Accompanied by his close associates, Igbokwe visited the hospital and fully settled the outstanding medical bills of numerous patients who were unable to pay for their treatment. This generous act no doubt, transformed the lives of the patients and their families, showcasing the foundation’s commitment to making a positive impact in the community.

Speaking during the visit, Igbokwe, who also toured the hospital wards, interacted with the patients, offered prayers, words of encouragement, assured them of their recovery. He also informed the patients that the Don Lulu Foundation had covered all their medical expenses.

“What happened at FMC today, is one of the many ways my foundation reaches out to humanity,” he said.
Commending the kind hearted gesture, the Chief Medical Director of FMC Umuahia, Professor Azubuike Onyebuchi, who received and welcomed Igbokwe and his entourage, commended him for the timely intervention. He noted that a significant number of the beneficiaries were accident victims who had little or no financial backing.

“Since I became Medical Director, I have lost count of how many times he has stepped in to assist patients with their bills,” the CMD said as he acknowledged the far-reaching impact of the foundation’s gesture, stressing that it not only improves the lives of individual patients but also alleviates the hospital’s burden of caring for indigent cases.

Also commending Igbokwe for intervention, former Deputy Chief Whip of the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Kelechi Onuzuruike, thanked him for his unwavering dedication to humanitarian causes, describing his selflessness as “truly admirable and worthy of emulation.”

The Don Lulu Foundation (DLF), which has long been involved in grassroots humanitarian projects across Abia State and beyond, reaffirmed through this act its enduring commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of the vulnerable.
