Lagos State Cooperative College, Agege, has disclosed that it has provided short term training for over 10,000 members of cooperative associations aside from awarding national diploma certificates of which 153 would be graduating during its second convocation ceremony.

The college Provost, Akorode Ojomu, said the convocation, scheduled for May 12 to 14, 2025, offers a chance to reflect on the journey since the first convocation in 2022.

“It has not been an easy path. Our progress from humble beginnings has required courage and relentless pursuit of our vision. Yet, the fruits of our labour are evident today, and they inspire renewed hope and determination.

“We owe much of our success to the unwavering support of the moderator of the college and Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, whose visionary leadership, prompt approvals, and encouragement have been the driving force behind our growth and accomplishments.

“This year, we are proud to convoke 153 graduates from three departments:
Microfinance and Enterprise Development, Cooperative Economics and Management
Professional Diploma in Economics and Management,” Ojomu said.

He said the graduates have not only earned certificates but also vocational skills due to the partnership with the Lagos State Women Development Centre.

Ojomu said all those that graduated during its first convocation are employed through the college’s deliberate academic planning and engagement with professionals.

He stated that on Monday, May 12, a convocation lecture titled ‘Cooperative Management: The Development and Transformation of Nano enterprises in Lagos State’, will be delivered by Dr. Olusegun Dada, at the college hall by 10am.

He added that the convocation ceremony will be held on May 14 featuring the award of national and professional diplomas, and fellowship awards.

He further said a new academic building highly equipped for physical and digital learning will be commissioned by the governor.
