The Anambra State Police Command has arrested six individuals suspected of involvement in armed robbery, vandalism, and attacks on communities in the Anambra South Senatorial District.
In a statement issued Wednesday, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrests followed coordinated joint operations across the state’s three senatorial zones.
The operations were carried out by a combined team of police officers and vigilante groups.
According to Ikenga, the suspects were found in possession of an English pistol and large quantities of electric cables allegedly vandalised from public infrastructure.
He said, “The police operatives have recorded breakthroughs in the Anambra South Senatorial District with the arrest of six suspects for armed robbery and vandalism. The police recovered an English pistol and vandalised electric cables from the suspects.”
He explained that the joint security team continues to carry out similar operations across all districts to reinforce security.
“The joint security team comprising the police and operatives of the Anambra State Vigilante carried out the exercise and will continue with their security dominance operations in the three senatorial districts of the state,” he said.
Ikenga also noted that a manhunt is underway for a known cultist and gunrunner who goes by the alias “Kiss me.”
He said, “The command has also declared a manhunt for a notorious cultist and gunrunner known as ‘Kiss me’. They have also recovered one English pistol and vandalised electric cables in separate operations in the area.”
Detailing specific arrests, Ikenga said two men were apprehended at Ifite village, Oko, on May 19. “In the evening of May 19, 2025, two suspects, namely: Anagor Chinedu ‘M’ aged 25 years and Anagor Rapuluchukwu ‘M’ aged 23 years, were arrested at Ifite village, Oko and one English Beretta pistol was recovered,” he said.
The two suspects reportedly confessed to being members of the “beggars’ confraternity” and named “Kiss me” as their group’s armourer. “The operatives have launched a manhunt operation aimed at dislodging the criminal group,” Ikenga added.
In a separate incident, four men were arrested while allegedly vandalising electrical cables at the permanent site of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko. The suspects—Chukwuka Usulor, Chukwuemeka Michael, Ikenna Oke, and Ebuka Okeke—were found with quantities of vandalised cables.
Ikenga said the prompt response was part of the command’s broader strategy to limit the activities of criminal groups in the state. “The operatives recovered some assorted quantities of cable wires. The Command remains committed in denying the criminals the space to commit havoc,” he said.
