The Lagos State Chapter of the Association of Women Town Planners in Nigeria (AWTPN) will on Thursday, 22nd May 2025, formally induct Town Planner Yemisi Olayinka Alaka as the third chairperson of the association. The event will also witness the inauguration of the new executive committee.
The investiture ceremony, themed “Women Leading Change: Building Inclusive and Resilient Communities”, will be held at Martinos Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, starting at 10 a.m. prompt.
According to the organisers, the event will highlight the association’s ongoing efforts to promote gender inclusion and community-focused planning in the built environment. The incoming chairperson, TPL.
Alaka, is expected to lead initiatives aimed at strengthening the role of women professionals in urban development and planning discourse within Lagos and beyond.

Guests from government, academia, professional bodies, and civil society are expected to attend the event in support of the new leadership and the association’s vision.
