July 21, 2024, marks a significant milestone in the life of an extraordinary individual, my father, Pa. Clement Ademola Williams, as he celebrates his 77th birthday. As I reflect on his remarkable journey, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the profound impact he has had on my life and the lives of countless others.

Clement Ademola Williams, a renowned art lecturer, dedicated his life to nurturing creativity and inspiring generations of artists, art enthusiasts, and students alike. His passion for art education was contagious, and his legacy continues to shape the art world in Nigeria and beyond. With a career spanning over four decades, he has left an indelible mark on the lives of thousands, instilling in them a love for art, a passion for creativity, and a commitment to excellence.

He studied in the United Kingdom during the 1980s at Bradford College, exhibiting with the British Council during the 1970s. He was also part of the important ‘International Group Art Exhibition’ at the National Museum, Benin City in 1984. He taught at the University of Benin from 1982 until retirement. Works by him are in the University at Albany, Fine Art Collections.

Growing up, I had the privilege of witnessing first hand his unwavering commitment to his craft. His dedication, expertise, and kindness have been a constant source of inspiration to me, and I am honoured to follow in his footsteps as the owner of an art gallery. I vividly remember the countless hours he spent in his studio, meticulously crafting his art pieces, and the numerous exhibitions he organised to showcase the talents of his students. His ability to bring out the best in people, to encourage and mentor, is a rare gift that has touched countless lives.

His influence extends far beyond the art world. He has been a pillar of strength and wisdom to our family, a guiding light to his friends, and a shining example of integrity and compassion to all who know him. His selflessness, generosity, and infectious laughter have touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on our community. He has been a constant source of support, a rock, a confidant, and a friend to many.

As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the values he instilled in me: creativity, perseverance, and a passion for excellence. His influence has not only shaped my career but also my life’s purpose. I am grateful for the sacrifices he made, the late nights and early mornings, the unwavering support, and the unrelenting encouragement. I am grateful for the memories we’ve shared, the laughter, the tears, and the quiet moments of reflection.

Here’s to many more years of love, joy, and continued inspiration, Dad! Your impact will be felt for generations to come. I celebrate you not only as my father but also as a mentor, a friend, and a true legend in the art world. Your legacy is a testament to the power of passion, dedication, and creativity.

As you celebrate this special day, I hope you know how much you are loved, admired, and appreciated. May your life continue to be a source of inspiration to all who know you. May your heart remain filled with joy, your spirit remain lifted, and your creative spark continues to shine bright.
Happy 77th birthday, Pa Clement Ademola Williams!

May this special day be filled with joy, love, and all your favourite things. May your life continue to be a blessing to us all.
