Tinubu’s spokesperson slams fake White House invite, warns hoax peddlers

The Presidency has rubbished a purported White House invitation extended to President Bola Tinubu for a working visit to Washington, D.C.

A statement trending on social media, allegedly signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, alleged that the invitation was declined by the Tinubu administration.

The statement read in part, “The All Progressives Congress (APC) administration has respectfully declined the invitation, citing critical domestic priorities requiring the President’s immediate attention.

“Additionally, logistical constraints, including the unsuitability of the presidential aircraft for long-distance travel, have contributed to this decision.

“The Nigerian government remains committed to fostering strong bilateral relations with the United States and looks forward to future opportunities for collaboration.”

Reacting, Onanuga linked the statement to disinformation agents, hoax peddlers, fake news propagators, and clickbaiters at work again.

“Whoever you are, one day, the law will catch you,” he said in a terse post on X.
