Ogah pushes for South-East inclusion in N380b irrigation fund

The Member Representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State, Chinedu Ogah, yesterday, said that federal lawmakers from the zone have appealed to President Bola Tinubu for the exclusion of the South-East in the Federal Government’s N380 billion interventions under the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund.

In a chat with journalists in Abakaliki, Ogah maintained that the President will not deliberately exclude the zone from the intervention because his administration has done so much for the zone, noting that they have made their case to the President.

He noted that Senators from the zone have not only lamented the exclusion but have moved a motion in that regard. Ogah noted that he has also written to the minister, noting that they are doing whatever they can because there is so much irrigation in the zone.

“I have one in my community and other ones in Izzi, and we are part of the All Progressives Congress (APC). They are definitely looking to it” Ogah said.

“During the budget preparation, the South-East, North-Central, part of the West and South-South were excluded from the light rail. Remember that I raised the objection on the floor of the House and called the attention of the President to include the South-East and other parts of Nigeria. You find out that they have already implemented that now,” he recalled.

He further commended Tinubu and Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for initiating policies that have touched the lives of the masses, saying that the President has done well in all aspects, including reviving the economy.

“When you talk of infrastructure, there are so many roads and other projects in each geopolitical zone. When you talk about agriculture, every member of the National Assembly, including senators, was given fertilisers last year, which were distributed to the rural farmers in their constituencies.

“In other aspects like health, he’s doing a lot of things, which have now encouraged patronage for made-in-Nigeria goods. In commerce, many investors are coming to the country. When you look at all those things he has done in all aspects, we have to appreciate him, and gradually we will get there.”
