Badaru leads meeting to curb foreign aircraft violations in Nigeria’s airspace

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru, on Tuesday, led a strategic meeting aimed at enhancing the nation’s airport security and preventing violations of its airspace by foreign aircraft.

The gathering, held at the Ministry of Defence’s Conference Hall in Abuja, brought together key stakeholders to review and implement measures against unauthorized entries and breaches of aviation protocols.

The meeting, held at the Minister’s Conference Hall in the Ministry of Defence, Ship House, Abuja, brought together senior figures from both defence and aviation sectors. Present at the session were the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad; Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo; Chief of the Air Staff; and other top officials and experts.

A statement from the Minister’s media aide, Mati Ali, said the primary focus of the meeting was to develop and implement coordinated strategies to curb unauthorised airspace entries and address violations of Nigeria’s aviation protocols by foreign aircraft operators.

The gathering also explored ways to enhance surveillance systems, tighten enforcement mechanisms, and improve inter-agency coordination to ensure a prompt and unified response to future breaches.

“The photograph from the meeting shows the Minister of Defence flanked by the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo; the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad; and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Ambassador Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, alongside other high-ranking officials,” the statement noted.

It further emphasized that the move reflects the federal government’s resolve to protect Nigeria’s sovereignty and ensure compliance with global aviation standards.
