AHBN seeks release of N200m infection control fund

• Gombe celebrates education feat
The Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) has called on the Federal Government to urgently release the N200 million allocated for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) in the 2025 national budget.

Its founder, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, who made the call, explained that releasing the funds was critical to protecting public health and improving hygiene and safety standards in health facilities across the federation.

He commended the government for including the funding in this year’s appropriation.

MEANWHILE, Gombe State has recorded significant improvement in secondary school students’ performance in national examinations.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya made the claim in a broadcast to mark his six-year anniversary in office yesterday.

According to him, the pass rate for students who scored a minimum of five credits, including English and Mathematics, has increased dramatically under his administration.

“The pass rate has risen from 22 per cent in 2019 to an impressive 76 per cent in 2024. This remarkable achievement is attributed to my administration’s comprehensive education reforms, which include the construction and renovation of over 1,600 classrooms in 350 schools.”

“More than 1,000 qualified teachers have been recruited to enhance learning outcomes. The reintroduction of mandatory mock examinations has ensured academic excellence and value-for-money,” he added.
