ILCS inducts 28 new members, canvasses promotion of ethical leadership

With a mission to produce ethical, reliable and creative leaders, the Institute of Leadership Coaching and Strategy (ILCS) has inducted 28 new members. Held in Lagos, the second induction ceremony of the institute was themed: ‘Ethical leadership for social impact’

ILCS President and Chairman, Governing Council Olasunkade Azeez said: “we are responsible professionals and leaders across the value chain of the economy.”

Disclosing that the challenges in many African nations are predominantly attributed to poor leadership, he observed that leadership is not about title but inspiring others, driving positive changes and making lasting impact on people and communities.

The Chairman of the event, Ayodele Patrick Aderinwale saluted the leadership of the institute. He added: “You have given yourself a difficult task. You will be discouraged. x success of the journey is not going to be about convenience but commitment.

“We live in a society where ethical practice is no longer in consideration. In the public and private sector, there is erosion of ethical conduct. To find an institute that is committing itself to producing trusted leaders resonates with me.”

The guest speaker, Group CEO Human Investment Group Africa, Ajibola Ponnle suggested there is need to focus on public sector leadership. To her, the public sector defines the success of the private sector.

“If we keep normalizing the abnormal, then we are going nowhere. For us to progress as a nation, we must uphold values.” She advised the inductees to live by they preach, aside being empathetic and focused.

On his part, a fellow of ILCS, Jide Ologun defined ethics as doing the right thing, adding that when it is adhered to, it exalts the society . To him, societies who decide to do what is right make significant progress.
