There is scarcity of faithful people at the work places today. Some workers seem not to be interested anymore for the growth and success of their workplaces, rather interested only in what enters their pockets. That is a wrong attitude to work. There should be a balance between organisational interest and personal interest. What determines if you are a faithful worker is your attitude and approach to work. The quality of your service in the work place is very important. God looked at everything that He Had made and He saw it was very good (Genesis 1:31). Are you fulfilled with the quality of service you are offering and putting in on your job? God was fulfilled with the quality of His work because He saw that everything He Had done is good. Make a commitment to do your work or perform your job role at Heaven’s standard, not at the standard of the environment. Heaven’s standard is offering our best service and nothing short of it.
Stealing and cheating in the workplace run the business down and bring curses upon people. You will automatically lose your job and integrity if you are caught stealing from your workplace. No one will recommend a thief for a better job.
A faithful worker seeks for the good of the organisation. Jeremiah 29:7says: “Seek the prosperity of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf; for in its prosperity will be your prosperity.” It is when you work for the prosperity of your organisation that you will also prosper. It is principle that answers to faithful stewards. You cannot be called a faithful worker if you don’t take steps towards the expansion of your organisation.
One of the ways to add value in the work place is to engage your mind to be productive and nothing short of your best service on any job role assigned to you. No organisation grows by accident. The success or failure of any business is the cumulative effects of what workers do daily in the workplace. Some people come to work, but they do not work. They come to work, but while away time. You should prioritise your tasks, staying focused, and making the most of your work time. A faithful worker comes to work on time. He abides by the stipulated hours of work and obeys the conditions of service.
Common bad practices by workers seen in most organisations are indolence, absenteeism, dishonesty in financial dealings, not showing commitment to assigned tasks, leaving work before official closing time, among others. These bad practices do not help any organisation to grow.
God blesses faithfulness. God blesses people who are faithful in the workplace even if your employer did not reward you.
God does not bless indolence.Proverbs 28:20 states: “A faithful man will be richly blessed.” Faithfulness in work is seen as an expression of love and devotion to God, manifested through diligence, integrity and commitment. Apostle Paul gives clear instructions on how a servant should relate to their master. They must be faithful, trustworthy and loyal (Titus 2:9-10). The same applies to us today in our dealings with employers. Resolve to become the most faithful member of staff at your workplace. It won’t be very hard because few, if any, other staff will be competing with you for that title. There is a lot of mediocrity in our society and the standards are very low.Define your standard and make up your mind that you are not shooting for average. Raise the stakes and raise the bar of excellence like Daniel (Daniel 1:8).
