Ahead of the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Delta State Police command has ordered a massive deployment of personnel from Area Commands, Tactical formations, and divisions to provide adequate security in all Muslim prayer grounds and strategic locations in the state.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abaniwonda Olufemi, in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, in Asaba, also directed all Divisional Police Officers to intensify raids of criminal hideouts and black spots within their areas of responsibility.

“In recognition of the significance of this sacred occasion, the Command will be working in close synergy with other sister security agencies which includes the Military, DSS, NSCDC, Road Safety and others to ensure that the activities of all unfriendly forces such as kidnappers, armed robbers, and cultists are nipped in the bud,” he said.

The Police boss, however, warned mischief makers to steer clear as the command will deal decisively with anybody found wanting.

He urged residents to cooperate fully with security personnel and adhere to all laws and safety regulations during the festive period.

He added that vehicular and human movements around major prayer grounds will be regulated to ensure crowd control and public safety, even as he extended his warmest wishes to all Muslim faithfuls as they mark a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
