Ms. Mofoluke Olagoke has been named the winner of the 2024 Education Research Prize for Excellence by the Society for Education and Economic Policy Research in Nigeria (SEEPRiN), in recognition of her transformative contributions to education policy and research across Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa.
Currently serving as principal education specialist – governance & curriculum, Ms. Olagoke was selected from a competitive field of education leaders for her pioneering, research-driven approach to designing, implementing, and evaluating multi-thematic education programmes. Her work has directly influenced policy in several anglophone African countries, with a focus on foundational, inclusive, and STEM education.
The SEEPRiN award includes a $20,000 grant to support further research and dissemination. Board chair of SEEPRiN noted, “Ms. Olagoke exemplifies the kind of scholarship and practical innovation that this prize was created to honour. Her research delivers real-world impact that transforms education systems and lives.”
Ms. Olagoke’s acclaimed body of work includes studies on gender disparities in STEM subject choices, comparative analyses of Montessori and traditional education models, inclusive curriculum development for children with developmental delays, and early childhood education practices—all of which have helped shape education policy and reform across multiple jurisdictions.
In response to the announcement, Ms. Olagoke said, “This award is a powerful affirmation of the importance of contextual, evidence-led education reform. I dedicate it to the educators, learners, and communities I’ve worked with across sub-Saharan Africa.”
The prize will be formally presented at a ceremony in Abuja in June 2025, with education policymakers, development partners, and academics expected to attend.
