Nigeria’s leading camera gear and equipment brand, SamdechNG, took its commitment to creative empowerment a step further by hosting a high-impact training event, Creators Workshop 101, which brought together over 60 young content creators in Lagos for a full day of practical learning and digital storytelling.
Held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Digiverse Studios, Onipanu,Lagos, the free workshop was delivered in partnership with TheKreativo Consultancy & Media Agency, Digiverse Studios, and Canon Nigeria.
Facilitators included acclaimed filmmaker and media trainer Adebisi Peters, alongside renowned tech educator KaganTech, who guided participants through dynamic sessions on interview framing, lighting for content, sound design, podcast development, and content monetisation strategies.
“Our brand isn’t just about selling top-tier gear, we’re about building a thriving community of empowered storytellers,” said Gabriel Chikodi Samuel, Managing Director, SamdechNG. “Workshops like this are one of the many ways we’re investing directly in the future of the Nigerian creative industry.”
The event not only provided rare access to industry insights and equipment but also created a space where young creatives could connect, collaborate, and win essential tools to enhance their craft.
Participants walked away with new knowledge, practical skills, and in many cases, professional gear.
“I knew I wasn’t going to miss this for anything. It was a lovely, impactful event. I won a Godox SL60 and an RGB light. Lighting has always been a challenge for me, but now my content will be 10x better,” said Chukwuma Armstrong.
“I am a Christian content creator. And with the F12 mobile gimbal and RGB light I won, I’ll be able to tell better stories about faith, society, and life around me,” revealed Chiamaka Blessing.
“Learning from Adebisi Peters and KaganTech was such a blessing. And now I have a Boya mic and RGB light to upgrade my content!” said Lois Uzoma.
“I learnt so much and met other creators in the space. I can’t wait for the next edition,” Emem Umoh said.
In Nigeria’s fast-growing creator economy, talent alone is no longer enough. Thousands of aspiring creatives are producing incredible content on limited resources, with little access to professional tools or industry knowledge. Many struggle with poor lighting, unreliable sound, and restricted visibility simply because they can’t afford the gear or don’t know where to start.
Samdech recognises this gap and is determined to bridge it.
By not only supplying high-quality equipment but also creating access through education, mentorship, and community-based events, Samdech is helping to level the playing field for young Nigerians hungry to make their mark.
“Our mission is to democratise access to creative tools and knowledge,” the brand says.
“You shouldn’t have to break the bank to tell powerful stories. Whether you’re shooting with a smartphone or a DSLR, we’re here to help you shoot smarter, light better, sound clearer, and ultimately, create with confidence.”
Creators Workshop 101 is just the beginning. With more editions planned, Samdech is set to become a driving force in transforming Nigeria’s content creation landscape, one storyteller at a time.
