The Taraba State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,450 personnel across the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Iliya Samailla, on behalf of the State Commandant, Anthony Bala Bitrus.
According to the statement, the deployment aims to safeguard lives and property during the Eid festivities, with tactical units mobilized to patrol major towns and cities within Taraba.
“All our tactical units have been mobilized to patrol major towns and cities across Taraba. We are fully prepared to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration for all,” Commandant Bitrus stated.
Personnel will also be stationed at designated Eid prayer grounds and identified flashpoints across the state. In addition, rapid response teams have been activated to handle any incidents that may arise during the celebration.
Bitrus noted that the deployment strategy was informed by a review of previous festive periods and tailored to prevent disturbances, particularly in areas known for unrest.
He urged residents to remain law-abiding and to report any suspicious activities to security operatives.
“We encourage the public to cooperate with our officers and report emergencies promptly. The NSCDC is ready to respond swiftly where needed,” he said.
Reaffirming the Corps’ commitment to peace and security, the Commandant also extended warm Sallah greetings to Muslim faithful in Taraba and beyond, wishing them a safe and joyful celebration.
