The Lagos State Government received a major boost to its digital learning agenda on Wednesday as Walure Media Academy officially handed over a newly completed Digital Teaching Hub to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

The facility, situated within the Education Resource Centre in Ojodu, is designed to serve as a central hub for tech-enabled learning, teacher training, and student engagement.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, described the project as “another breakthrough” that will significantly improve teaching and learning in the state.

“We are here today to witness another breakthrough, one that is unique, useful, and will surely enhance teaching and learning outcomes,” he said.

According to Alli-Balogun, the hub will enable one-on-one training, group instruction, and foster new teaching techniques.
He added that students will also benefit from better access to academic materials, interactive guidance, and professional mentorship.

“This will also be a platform for grading, counselling, and mentorship. These will help students gain the kind of exposure they need to succeed in the near future,” he said.

He further noted that the initiative aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES agenda, particularly in the areas of education and technology.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, praised the facility for its potential to expand knowledge sharing among teachers and students.

“It’s not just for today; it is for the future. We can now reach more students, more educators, and give them the tools they need to succeed,” she said.

General Manager of Walure Media, Mr. Obafemi Okubanjo, said the hub is designed to support Lagos teachers and students with digital tools, interactive content, and new teaching strategies.

He added that the initiative aims to raise exam performance across WAEC, NECO and JAMB, and called on other states to adopt similar projects to prepare Nigerian children for a digital future.

“This hub will serve as a model for other states. It’s our contribution to a future-ready education system and the modernisation of educational infrastructure,” Okubanjo said.

The event was attended by key stakeholders from the education sector, technology partners, and representatives from the Lagos State Government.
