A 60-year-old man, Adamu Mohammed, has allegedly killed his 18-year-old daughter, Zainab Adamu, during a domestic altercation at their residence in Dawakin Dakata Quarters, Kano.

The tragic incident occurred at about 5:00 a.m. on Monday, when the father struck the young girl with a hard object, leaving her unconscious.A concerned resident raised an alarm about two hours later, prompting swift action by community members. Sources said that the police promptly visited the scene.

The unconscious victim was rushed to Sir Sunusi Specialist Hospital, where she was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor. The deceased’s remains have been released to her family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

Police sources said that the suspect has been taken into custody while an investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the act. Community members described the incident as shocking and called for increased awareness and intervention to address the rising cases of domestic violence, particularly those involving family members.
