First batch of Jigawa pilgrims returns from Saudi Arabia

The first batch of pilgrims from Jigawa State has returned safely from Saudi Arabia following the successful completion of the 2025 Hajj exercise.

The Max Air flight, carrying 549 pilgrims, landed at the Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi International Airport in Dutse, the state capital, on Saturday.

The pilgrims included men and women from across the state, as well as officials of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board and members of the Hajj Committee.

According to the board, the remaining 381 pilgrims are expected to arrive on the second and final flight scheduled for Monday.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the arrival, the Director General of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Ahmed Labbo, expressed gratitude for the safe return of the pilgrims and commended the efforts of all stakeholders involved in the exercise.
“We thank Allah for the successful return of our pilgrims. The board has worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth and safe return, and this achievement is a testament to our dedication,” Labbo said.

He also noted that the state government remains committed to supporting pilgrims and ensuring their reintegration into their communities after the spiritual journey.

Several returning pilgrims expressed appreciation to the Jigawa State government and the Pilgrims Welfare Board for the support and care provided during their stay in the Holy Land.

“We are grateful to Allah and the pilgrimage authority for their tireless efforts,” said Aisha Sani from Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.
Abdulrahman Muhammad, from Gumel LGA, added, “The government and the Hajj Commission did a commendable job. We felt supported every step of the way.”
