Military will continue to protect lives and property of Nigerians -Minister

The Minister of Defence, Muhammad Abubakar Badaru, has emphasised that securing the nation is a sheer responsibility that requires the active engagement and cooperation of all stakeholders in the country.

Badaru highlighted the progress made by the military and other security agencies in restoring peace and protecting lives and property, despite the country’s security challenges.

He spoke at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Jos, at its Alumni Association, calling on the members of the alumni to leverage their wealth of experience and expertise to sharpen an effective national security strategy and drive socio-economic development.

Baduru encouraged the armed forces to deepen their engagement in strategic dialogue and advocacy to strengthen national security.

In his remarks, Emmanuel Okafor, President of the NIPSS Alumni Association, noted that despite the economic challenges, the association is committed to strengthening its advocacy and partnerships with stakeholders to promote good governance.

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, urged the institute’s alumni to drive the process of rebuilding trust and reconciliation among communities, assuring them of their safety in the process.

He was represented by the Secretary to the government of the State, Samuel Jatau.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhamadu Sa’ad Abubakar, emphasised the need for leaders to utilise NIPSS human resources to address nation–building challenges and foster development.

The event climaxed with the presentation of souvenirs to dignitaries, including the governor.
