In a bold and timely call for migration reform and youth reorientation across Africa, Chief Executive Officer of Flymatas Travels and Convener of Legends Arena International, Ambassador Ayorinde Alex Olubusade, has issued a clarion message to African youths.
Amid the rising tide of Japa syndrome, the growing trend of mass migration from Africa to Western countries Olubusade warned that without clear intention, preparation, and structure, many young Africans will find disappointment instead of destiny abroad.
The Myth of Instant Success Abroad
“People still work abroad,” Olubusade stressed. “Being lazy in Lagos is the same as being lazy in London.
The problem is not the place; it’s the person. A lizard in Africa doesn’t become a crocodile in America.”
His message addresses a troubling myth among African youth: that relocation guarantees wealth. While it is
true that America, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, and other nations offer enabling environments, he points out that not everyone who migrates thrives.
Many arrive unprepared, without marketable skills, without a plan and end up stuck in a cycle of underachievement or even deportation.
Flymatas Travels, founded by Olubusade after he himself was scammed multiple times in his migration journey, has grown into one of Africa’s most reputable travel consultancies. The company
advocates for what it calls Purposeful Migration ,the idea that relocation should not be a trend or a last resort, but a strategic move based on clarity, documentation, and alignment.
At Flymatas, we do not just help Africans travel we help them Travel Right and Relocate on Purpose, he stated. Through platforms like the Flymatas Visa Varsity Program, the firm educates Africans on visa processes, study and work opportunities, scholarships, and the ethical, legal paths to international success.
Olubusades message is not just for the youth. It is also a call to African leaders across the continent. When our best minds, innovators, and dreamers are forced to flee because they cannot breathe in their own country, then the system is broken, he says.
He appealed to governments in Africa to improve infrastructure, create enabling economic policies, support startups and innovation, reform education to match global standards, provide grants, visas, and mobility options for young entrepreneurs, and combat corruption and restore national pride.
Africa’s problem is not lack of talent, it is lack of opportunity, he insists. And when the land is dry, the birds fly.
Migration isn’t the enemy but misguided migration is. Flymatas Travels stands firmly against illegal migration, including the tragic journeys across the Mediterranean or through the desert by desperate youth. Instead, the company promotes ethical migration channels, study abroad initiatives, and skill-based visa education.
Ambassador Olubusade encourages young people to develop relevant 21st-century skills, build strong application documents, work with verified travel consultants, set clear timelines and goals, and seek opportunities that align with their capacity not just social media trends.
Don’t relocate blindly. Don’t Japa just because your friend is going. Don’t flee from failure in Africa and expect magic abroad. The grass is greener where it is watered. Water your life. Build capacity. Think clearly. Migrate wisely. And most of all relocate with purpose.
