Oriyomi Badmus honoured with Crest Africa Award for Excellence in Cybersecurity, DevOps Innovation

Oriyomi Badmus has been honoured with the Crest Africa Award for Excellence in Cybersecurity and DevOps Innovation, a distinguished recognition celebrating professionals who are shaping the continent’s future through technology, integrity, and sustainable impact. The award was presented in May 2025, spotlighting Badmus’s groundbreaking contributions to secure digital infrastructure, cloud-native systems, and ethical AI development.

A Nigerian-born, UK-educated engineer, Badmus has spent nearly a decade delivering high-impact solutions across the UK, UAE, and Africa. His career spans advanced cybersecurity roles in Dubai’s high-security technology sector and DevOps engineering for UK-based teams. At the core of his work is a commitment to building resilient security pipelines that align with global compliance frameworks, including ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials.

“I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition from Crest Africa,” said Badmus. “Cybersecurity is not just a technical discipline. It is the foundation of digital trust, and I believe Africa has a vital voice in defining that trust globally.”

In addition to his engineering leadership, Badmus is a respected academic contributor. As lead author, he has published peer-reviewed papers that bridge the gap between theory and practice. His standout works include “Zero Trust Security Model in DevOps for Cloud Native Environments” (TIJER, 2024) and “Comparative Analysis of GitOps Tools and Frameworks” (Path of Science, 2025). These publications offer actionable frameworks for improving security and deployment efficiency in modern digital ecosystems.

Beyond research, Badmus serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Engineering and Innovation and holds Senior Member status at DevLaunchers, a global tech education initiative. He actively mentors early-career engineers, equipping them with skills in secure software delivery, infrastructure as code, and compliance with international standards.

“This award is not just a personal achievement,” Badmus added. “It reflects the collective work of every community, mentor, and mentee I have engaged with. We are all contributing to a future where African engineers are at the forefront of digital excellence.”

In 2025, he co-founded a pioneering AI-driven environmental health project in the United States. The system, still in development, uses geospatial intelligence and artificial intelligence to track and predict contaminated sites, aiming to support government agencies and environmental stakeholders in making data-informed remediation decisions.

His influence continues to grow through policy dialogue, open-source advocacy, and cross-border innovation. As a member of the British Computer Society, Badmus participates in shaping global digital standards while championing African innovation on the world stage.

“Recognition like this fuels the mission,” said Badmus. “Africa’s cybersecurity future is already in motion, and I’m committed to ensuring it’s secure, inclusive, and built to last.”

With technical depth, visionary thinking, and a global perspective grounded in community, Oriyomi Badmus exemplifies the kind of leadership Crest Africa was created to honour. His journey reflects what is possible when skill meets purpose and innovation serves a greater good.
