2027: Reject failed promises, NNPP’s Ajadi tells Nigerians

A South-West chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has called on Nigerians to hold political parties accountable for their campaign promises ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Ajadi urged voters to assess the performance of elected officials over the past two years and reject any party or candidate who failed to deliver on their electoral pledges.

“Politicians made bold promises in 2023, but the reality for most Nigerians today is increasing hardship and disillusionment,” he said.
Ajadi singled out the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party currently in control of the federal government, accusing it of failing to deliver on its Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The ruling APC raised expectations, but Nigerians are now living in deeper poverty. Their hope has turned to despair because of the economic downturn,” he added.

He pointed to the worsening state of electricity supply as one of the administration’s major failures, noting that millions of Nigerians still live without stable power, despite repeated government assurances.

Ajadi also criticised the federal government’s decision to remove petrol subsidies without adequate social protections in place, saying it had significantly worsened the cost of living.

“The removal of subsidy without concrete palliatives has placed petroleum products beyond the reach of the average citizen. The ripple effects have driven inflation and further weakened the naira,” he stated.

He expressed concern over the continued depreciation of the naira, describing its performance against regional currencies such as the CFA franc as “embarrassing”, and called on the government to stabilise the economy.

As preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum, Ajadi encouraged Nigerians to take a more critical approach to political participation.
“The electorate must use the 2027 elections to demand accountability. If a political party or candidate failed to deliver on their promises, they do not deserve re-election,” he said.
Ajadi stressed that electoral decisions must be based on proven track records, not rhetoric, adding that the future of Nigeria depends on informed and courageous voter choices.
