The Plateau State diaspora group, operating under the auspices of Plateau State Association, USA, Inc. (PSA-USA), has expressed gratitude to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for the N1 billion donation to support victims of recent violent attacks in Plateau State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its National President, Dr. Barth Shepkong, PSA-USA noted that the gesture arrives at a critical moment when many communities continue to face displacement, trauma, and severe economic hardship due to ongoing violence and insecurity.
Shepkong remarked that the First Lady’s intervention sends a powerful and reassuring message that no Nigerian community should be neglected, and that justice and healing must be prioritised at the highest levels of national leadership.
“This is not just a financial gesture; it is a profound symbol of solidarity and care for the people of Plateau,” said Dr. Shepkong.
He further commended the First Lady for her unwavering dedication to humanity and for reminding us that compassion should motivate public service.
As an organisation committed to the welfare of Plateau State, PSA-USA is also preparing to celebrate its 20th Anniversary in September 2025.
“During this milestone occasion, the association will officially launch the R64 Diaspora Initiative—a bold, community-led platform aimed at mobilising the Plateau diaspora for development projects across all 17 Local Government Areas and 64 Development Wards of the state.
“This initiative aligns with the First Lady’s vision by focusing on vulnerable populations and fostering peace, resilience, and inclusive development,” he explained.
Shepkong, therefore, urged relevant government authorities and humanitarian agencies to ensure the transparent, timely, and effective deployment of the N1 billion donation so that it reaches those most affected, particularly women, children, the elderly, and other marginalised groups.
