Dahiru becomes Jigawa commissioner of police

A new Commissioner of Police has been deployed to Jigawa State on the instruction of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

CP Muhammed Dahiru, PSC, FDC, takes over from CP AT Abdullahi, PSC, who has meritoriously retired from active service after a distinguished career in the Nigeria Police Force.

A seasoned and experienced police officer, CP Dahiru was born on June 20, 1966, in Garun Malam Local Government Area, Kano State, to Alhaji Muhammed Abdullahi Madaki and Hajiya Rabi’atu Lawan.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science (BSc) from Bayero University, Kano, which he obtained between 1984 and 1988. He was deployed to Lagos State for a one-year mandatory national service (NYSC) from 1988 to 1989.

Dahiru was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP II) and trained at the Nigeria Police Academy Annexe Kaduna from 1992 to 1993.

Upon resumption of duty, Dahiru pledged to strengthen inter-agency collaboration, community partnership, intelligence-led policing, and respect for human rights in line with the vision and mission of the Nigeria Police Force under the current leadership.

The CP also urged the public, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community-based organisations, and other key stakeholders to assist the police in promoting peace, security, and development across Jigawa State.

Before his posting to Jigawa State, he held several strategic positions within the Force, including head of key operational and investigative units across various commands and formations, which include but are not limited to:

Divisional Police Officer in Batagarawa, Kurfi, Malunfashi, and Central Police Station, all within the Katsina State Command.

The CP was finally posted to the Jigawa State Police Command as the 24th Commissioner of Police since the state’s creation.

Dahiru has attended several courses both within and outside Nigeria, including:

Advance Detective Course (ADC) at Police Staff College (PSC) Jos in 1998.

International Senior Police Officers Command Course (ISPOCC) at Polis Diraja, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2005.

Intermediate Command Course (ICC) at the Police Staff College (PSC), Jos, in 2009.

Strategic Leadership Command Course (SLCC) at the Police Staff College, Jos, in 2019.

National Defence College, Abuja, Nigeria, in 2023.

CP Muhammed is happily married and blessed with five children.

His hobbies include jogging and trekking.
