Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has distanced himself from the national chairmanship race of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The clarification followed reports in certain quarters indicating that he was among those jostling for the office.
His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yomi Odunuga, dismissed the speculations as a fabrication meant to distract him from the key responsibilities that have been placed on him by President Bola Tinubu.
He clarified not jostling for any position within the ruling party, stating that his main focus was to ensure that he does not in any way betray the intrinsic trust that President Tinubu reposes in him in ensuring that the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration succeeds.
HOWEVER, ahead of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting holding on July 24, there are indications that the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, may take a shot at the chairmanship seat.
Already, his supporters have massively pasted his posters in strategic locations within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to consider him for the plum job.
The Guardian observed that hundreds of his posters were pasted around the city gate, and at the precinct of the national secretariat of the party along Blantyre Street, within Abuja city.
Bello, who was a two-term governor, has yet to openly express interest in the office abruptly vacated by the former Governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje.
