Davido, Lojay earn RIAA certifications

Music star, David Adedeji Adeleke, well known as Davido, has hinted at a fresh collaboration with fellow Afro-fusion star and Def Jam recording artiste, Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko, known professionally as Adekunle Gold or AG Baby.

The award-winning singer made the revelation on Tuesday, July 8, while celebrating the recent commercial success of their 2021 hit single, High. Davido took to his official X (formerly Twitter) page to repost a milestone update from global music statistics platform, Chart Data.

According to the report, the collaboration by both artistes has officially surpassed 200,000 units in sales in the United States, a major feat for the artistes on the international stage.

In response to the news, Davido teased fans with a cryptic yet exciting announcement. He revealed that although he doesn’t intend to feature much on other artistes’ projects this year, he recently cleared what he described as the “most fire verse” for Adekunle Gold’s upcoming work.

The update has sparked anticipation among fans who are eager to see yet another sonic synergy between the two hitmakers. The two music heavyweights have been spotted in the studio together. Their previous collaboration, High, became fans’ favourite upon release and contributed significantly to the global popularity of contemporary Nigerian Afro-fusion.

Meanwhile, in another development, it was another win for Afrobeats, as the global music star, alongside fellow music star, Lojay, officially earned their RIAA Platinum certification for their work with Chris Brown, Sensational. The certified banger has officially crossed one million units sold in the U.S., proving once again that Afrobeats isn’t just a wave, it’s a movement.

The achievement adds another major milestone to Davido’s legendary career, just as Lojay cements his place as one of Afrobeats’ fastest-rising stars.

Released in 2023, the song quickly became popular among fans. It combines Afrobeats and R&B sounds, creating a catchy tune that people loved. Davido’s strong vocals, Lojay’s smooth delivery, and Chris Brown’s unique style made the track stand out on playlists and charts around the world.
