Three days after the conclusion of the BRICS summit in Brazil, the whereabouts of President Bola Tinubu remain unclear, with the Presidency maintaining silence on his return itinerary.
Although reports from unofficial sources within the Presidential Villa suggest that the President departed Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday, there has been no confirmation on whether he was headed back to Nigeria or on another leg of international engagement.
President Tinubu had arrived in Brazil on the evening of July 5 to participate in the BRICS summit sessions held on July 6 and 7 in Rio de Janeiro.
During the summit, he was actively engaged in high-level bilateral meetings alongside key ministers from his cabinet.
However, despite public expectations of his return shortly after the summit’s conclusion, none of the official spokespersons for the President have provided any updates on his movement or current location.
This information vacuum has stirred anxiety among Nigerians, with many expressing concern over the lack of transparency from the Presidency.
The development comes at a time when citizens increasingly demand greater openness around the activities and health of their leaders.
As of Friday evening, attempts to get clarification from Presidential aides were unsuccessful, with no official statement issued regarding the President’s status.
