The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has arraigned a pastor, Godwin Ikuru, before a Lagos Magistrate Court sitting in Yaba for allegedly conducting himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace and unlawfully interfering with the use of private property.

Ikuru was arraigned before Chief Magistrate E. Kubeinje on a three-count charge filed by the police, bordering on alleged breach of peace and unlawful interference with private property.

The prosecutor, Mr. Morufu Animashaun, a legal officer from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (ForceCID), Ikoyi, Lagos, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offences on or about January 21, 2025, at No. 106, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, in the Lagos Magisterial District.

The police alleged that Ikuru entered a parcel of land in the lawful possession of one Abibat Bankole-Apena, thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 52 of the Criminal Code Law, Ch. C17, Vol. 3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015. The act also contravenes Section 340 of the same law.

Part of the charge reads: “That you, Pastor Godwin Ikuru, on or about the 21st day of January, 2025, at No. 106, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, in the Lagos Magisterial District, unlawfully interfered with the use of a private property belonging to one Abibat Bankole-Apena and thereby committed an offence.”

Ikuru pleaded not guilty to the charges. The Magistrate granted him bail in the sum of ₦250,000, with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned to August 6, 2025.
