The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has approved a Special Intervention Project worth ₦750 million for the construction of a 200-bed student hostel at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai.

The project, which will be completed within 36 weeks (nine months), comprises 32 rooms, two common areas, a modern kitchen, a laundry facility, a borehole with an overhead tank, and each room will be fitted with a private toilet and wardrobe, ensuring a comfortable and conducive environment for students.

The Vice Chancellor of IBBUL, Professor Muhammad Hadi Sulaiman, while signing the contract, described the development as a strategic boost to students’ welfare infrastructure, emphasising the University’s commitment to improved campus life and academic excellence.

“We are grateful to TETfund for this intervention, which aligns with our long-term vision for a student-friendly environment,” he said.

The project followed due process, including a comprehensive feasibility study, a geotechnical survey, soil analysis, structural and architectural designs, and the preparation of a detailed bill of quantities. All of these steps culminated in an open competitive bidding process, conducted in accordance with public procurement guidelines.

The Chief Executive of the construction firm handling the project, Green-View Tech. Limited, TPL Muhammad Hamza, has assured timely and quality delivery and pledged utmost professionalism.

“We are bringing our experience and commitment to this project. It is not just about erecting a structure; it’s about creating a lasting legacy for future leaders,” he stated.

The project will be supervised by Shelter Groove Architects, the consulting firm providing technical guidance throughout the construction phase.

The firm’s involvement is to ensure that best practices in structural integrity and functional design are strictly adhered to.

This intervention is expected to significantly address the accommodation challenges faced by students in the institution and further promote academic concentration and well-being on campus.
