Urges NGOs, others to emulate model of service, civic responsibility
Wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has commended the Rotary Club for continued commitment to humanitarian service and alignment with the state’s development goals.
Sanwo-Olu, who spoke during the fundraising and investiture of Adekunmilola Adio-Moses as 22nd President of the Rotary Club of Omole-Golden, represented by the wife of the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Funmilayo Omotoso, commended the club’s efforts in promoting health, education, and community development, which are the key focus areas of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration.
She added that Rotary’s interventions align with the state government’s THEMES+ agenda, which emphasises healthcare, education, social welfare, and sustainable urban development.
“Rotary’s dedication to community service strongly complements our administration’s efforts to improve the lives of Lagos residents.
“As we celebrate this milestone, I urge everyone to reflect on how we can collectively make a difference, as well as build a more equitable and prosperous society for all,” she said.
She, therefore, urged other NGOs and stakeholders to emulate Rotary’s model of service and civic responsibility.
On his part, Lagos State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mosopefolu George, who was the guest speaker, commended the club for its impactful initiatives aimed at uplifting the less privileged.
In his acceptance speech, Adio-Moses said: “We will serve not for recognition, but because we genuinely care. We will give, not for applause, but because the needs around us are real.
“We will also seek strong partnerships with government agencies, civil society organisations, and community leaders, knowing that meaningful and sustainable change often requires collaboration beyond our club walls.”
Adio-Moses, therefore, urged members to work together in unity, stating, “Let us work together in harmony, leveraging our diverse strengths and experiences. Unity will be our strategy; service will be our identity.”
