Nigerian tech training company, INGRYD Academy, has announced a strategic partnership with ISACA, the global association for information systems governance, to become the sole partner for ISACA’s training and certifications in the country.
The partnership, announced on Friday at a press conference in Lagos, will see INGRYD Academy offer internationally recognised tech certifications at a 70 per cent discount, drastically reducing the cost from $1,000 for Nigerian students.
Speaking at the event, INGRYD Academy Managing Director/CEO, Khadijat Abdulkadir, described the partnership as a game-changer for Nigerian youth seeking global employment opportunities.
“The average person who now has to pay $1,000 to get certified through INGRYD will receive it for no more than $250. This exclusive partnership with ISACA for the next five years positions our graduates to compete globally,” Abdulkadir said.
The partnership addresses a critical challenge facing Nigerian tech professionals in the global job market. According to Abdulkadir, while INGRYD has trained over 8,500 learners since inception, many struggle to secure international opportunities due to a lack of recognised certifications.
“It is one thing to give them practical skills to do the work, but when you look at the global market, everybody wants to know what you are certified in. Organisations globally want to know if you have the right accreditation and certification,” she said.
The company, which operates across three continents with presence in Europe, Nigeria, and the United States, has placed 37 per cent of its graduates with 288 partner organisations worldwide.
The new partnership aims to increase this placement rate to 70 to 80 per cent. INGRYD Academy’s certification programmes cover high-demand tech fields including software engineering, full-stack development, data science, cybersecurity, cloud computing, DevOps, and blockchain technology.
The programmes run for three to six months with a maximum of 200 learning hours, combining instructor-led sessions with hands-on practical training.
Under the new partnership, ISACA’s fundamentals training will be integrated into INGRYD’s existing curriculum, and graduates will receive a complimentary one-year ISACA student membership, providing access to a network of over 85,000 professionals across 190 countries.
The partnership comes at a time when Nigeria’s tech sector is experiencing significant growth but faces challenges in matching local talent with international opportunities.
Abdulkadir noted that many multinational companies operating in Nigeria, including those in the oil and banking sectors, often rely on foreign expertise for senior technology roles.
“There is work in Nigeria, but you would be surprised to know that Indians are occupying available positions because Nigerians are not as qualified,” she said.
The company, which is part of the Venture Garden Group, also provides visa support to graduates who secure international employment, addressing another barrier to global mobility for Nigerian tech professionals.
