2027: Amaechi rallies supporters against election rigging in Rivers

The former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, said Rivers State is notorious for writing election results and has vowed to stop the menace ahead of 2027 elections.

The former governor of Rivers State and 2023 All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential aspirant also charged his supporters to rise and match the election merchants to stop the recurring pattern.

The former minister, who recently dumped APC for African Democratic Congress (ADC), stated this yesterday in Port Harcourt when he led his teeming supporters on a road show across the city.

Amaechi further stated that many Nigerians, including him, are hungry, yet President Bola Tinubu does not care.

Addressing his supporters yesterday, Amaechi said: “If you are not hungry, I am hungry. It has been difficult surviving in Nigeria, yet the President doesn’t care. Only God knows how you are surviving. ADC is here to bring a solution”.

“Rivers State is notorious for writing results. When they write results, they win. I will not work with you if you do not match with those election merchants, and stop them,” he added.

In a letter dated July 1, 2025, addressed to the APC Chairman in ward 8, Ubima, Ikwere Local Council of Rivers State, Amaechi said that his decision to leave the party was driven by his commitment to join forces with “other patriotic Nigerians to rescue our dear nation from fangs of failure, pain, and anguish, which the APC now symbolises.”

The former governor called on Rivers people to vote out the current administration; otherwise, they may die of hunger.

The ADC is the platform adopted by the national opposition coalition movement to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

The minister was later received by the National Treasurer of ADC, Kelvin Alagoa.
